John H. Tucker, D.M.D. has maintained a private practice in Erie, Pennsylvania since 1982.  He is a graduate of the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Dental Medicine.  He has completed the Boston Seminars in Implant Dentistry with Dr. Paul Schnitman, the University Of Buffalo Esthetic Dentistry Program, and all levels of the Dawson Center for Advanced Dental Study, and the University Of Buffalo Patient Mastery Program.  In 2005 he was awarded a Certificate of Proficiency in Esthetic Dentistry from the University Of Buffalo.

He is a Member of the American College of Oral Implantology, the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry.  He is also a Diplomate for both the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the American Society of Osseointegration.  Dr. Tucker has Mastership status in the American Academy of Implant Prosthodontics as well as Fellowship in the International Academy for Dental-Facial Esthetics.  He is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.  ­­

Dr. Tucker has lectured throughout the nation regarding dental implants and prosthetics as well as publishing numerous related articles.  He has worked as a consultant for Dentsply, ESPE, Kerr, Henry Schein and Nierman Practice Management.

Dr. Tucker has six dental patents including a precision attachment currently being marketed by the Preat Corporation and an impression tray, Originate™, marketed by Axis™.

Dr. Tucker has a special interest in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea.  As a Diplomate of The American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, he is exceptionally qualified to manage this serious problem with Oral Appliance Therapy.  Dr. Tucker was named one of the Best Sleep Doctors in 2012 & 2013 by the Sleep Review Journals for Sleep Specialists.  He has been actively treating patients in the Tri-State Erie area for the past ten years.  Dr. Tucker works directly with sleep physicians and sleep centers to ensure that his patients receive the most positive treatment outcome possible.  He founded Erie Dental Sleep Therapy, LLC in 2007.   Erie Dental Sleep Therapy, LLC became the eighth AADSM Accredited facility in June of 2012.  Erie Dental Sleep Therapy, LLC was also named one of the Best Sleep Facilities in 2012 by the Sleep Review Journals for Sleep Specialists.

Dr. Tucker is passionate about educating the dental profession in treatment of the PAP intolerant Obstructive Sleep Apnea patient.  He has presented approximately 1700 hours of continuing education on treating the PAP intolerant patient with Oral Appliance Therapy nationally and internationally over the past six years.  Dr. Tucker has also published numerous articles regarding Oral Appliance Therapy for OSA patients that are unable to tolerate PAP therapy.

John Remmers

John Remmers, MD

Dr. John Remmers is a recognized physiologist, pioneer, and innovator in sleep medicine. As a world-renowned expert in the field of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, Dr. Remmers has published over one hundred peer-reviewed articles in the area of respiratory physiology.

Dr. Remmers served two terms as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Applied Physiology and has presented honorary research lectures to the American Thoracic Society, the American Physiological Society, and the American College of Chest Physicians. His research interests relate to the neurobiology of respiratory rhythmogenesis, chemoreception, and the pathophysiology of the control of breathing. He is the first researcher to elucidate the pathogenesis of sleep apnea and to demonstrate that sleep apnea is caused by an anatomical narrowing of the pharynx. He has developed various technologies and medical devices to treat sleep apnea. These range from portable diagnostic sleep monitors to auto-adjusting CPAP devices, and remotely controlled/feedback controlled mandibular positioners (Zephyr’s MATRx and MATRx™ plus) used in the prescription and characterization of oral appliance therapy.

As a pulmonologist and clinical professor of internal medicine at the University of Calgary, Dr. Remmers’ passion for education is captured in his annual lectures at Spear, Tufts University and the Pankey Institute. His devotion to clinical care continues at the Southern Alberta Sleep Centre, where he maintains an active sleep practice. Over the past decade, Dr. Remmers has dedicated his research to patient selection for oral appliance therapy.

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Physiology from Dartmouth Medical School. Dr. Remmers has also completed his Pre-Doctoral Fellowship from the Harvard Medical School and completed his Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Dartmouth Medical School. As the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and co-founder of Zephyr Sleep Technologies, Dr. John Remmers leads the research, design, and development of innovative sleep products used in the diagnoses and treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.

Todd Morgan

Todd Morgan, DMD, DABDSM

Dr. Todd Morgan, DMD, graduated Washington University of Dental Medicine and has been recognized as an expert in the field of Dental Sleep Medicine. He has been in practice for over 25 years in California and has conducted clinical research trials and published several research papers regarding the treatment of headaches, sleep apnea, and snoring with Oral Appliance Therapy. His team has completed several NIH funded clinical trials and authored several peer-reviewed articles and books on the treatment of sleep apnea with dental appliances. Dr. Morgan is an innovator, and his collaborative work has shed light on the appropriate selection of patients for OAT. His group’s new investigation is focusing on strategies to guide successful outcomes using oral appliances, including improved collaboration with his physician colleagues.

Erin Elliott

Erin Elliott, DDS, ASBA

Dr. Erin Elliott was born and raised in Southern California. She played soccer at Houghton College, a small Christian college in Western New York. She attended dental school at Creighton University in Omaha, NE where she graduated in the top 5 of her class.

Dr. Elliott is committed to attending continuing education classes and is active in the local and state dental organizations and societies. She has a special interest in screening and treating snoring and sleep apnea. In addition, she has authored several articles in national dental journals and lectures extensively. She is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and diplomate and past president of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy.

Steve Carstensen, DDS, FAGD, DABDSM

Dr. Steve Carstensen, DDS, is the co-founder of Premier Sleep Associates, a dental practice dedicated to treating obstructive sleep apnea and snoring.  After graduating from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1983, he and his wife, Midge, a dental hygienist, started a private practice of general dentistry in Texas before moving to native Seattle in 1990.  In 1996 he achieved Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentists in recognition of over 3000 hours of advanced education in dentistry, with an increasing amount of time in both practice and classwork devoted to sleep medicine.  A lifelong educator himself, Dr. Steve is currently the Sleep Education Director for both Pankey Institute and Spear Education, recognized as among the finest places for dentists to further their education.  As a volunteer leader for the American Dental Association, he was a Program Chairman and General Chairman for the Annual Session, the biggest educational event the Association sponsors.

For the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine he’s been a Board Member, Secretary Treasurer, and President-Elect.  In 2006 he achieved Certification by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Along with seeing patients he keeps a very active international speaking schedule, addressing 20+ groups of dentists, physicians, and leaders in medicine each year to help them find ways to improve the health of their communities.

In 2014, he became the founding Editor-in-Chief of Dental Sleep Practice magazine, a publication for medical professionals treating sleep patients.  He is a frequent contributor to webinars and other online education in this field.

Mark Murphy

Mark Murphy, DDS, FAGD

Mark is the Lead Faculty for Clinical Education at ProSomnus Sleep Technologies, Principal of Funktional Consulting, serves on the Guest Faculty at the University of Detroit Mercy and as a Regular Presenter on Business Development, Practice Management and Leadership at the Pankey Institute. He has served on the Boards of Directors of the Pankey Institute, National Association of Dental Laboratories, the Identalloy Council, the Foundation for Dental Laboratory Technology, St. Vincent DePaul’s Dental Center and the Dental Advisor. Mark lectures internationally on Leadership, Practice Management, Communication, Case Acceptance, Planning, Occlusion, Sleep and TMD. He has a knack for presenting pertinent information in an entertaining manner.

Kent Smith

Kent Smith, DABDSM, ASBA

Dr. Kent Smith is President of the American Sleep and Breathing Academy, a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine and is on the Advisory Committee of the Australasian Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. In 2007, he was asked to start a sleep curriculum at the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Clinical Studies. In 2011, he started the SKISH Initiative (“School Kids in Safe Hands”), to keep bus drivers and students safe on the roads.

In 2012, he was the first in Texas to be awarded a Dental Sleep Medicine Facility Accreditation and is the creator of the “Best Sleep Hygiene” app, which is a free download. That same year, he was asked to host a radio show on sleep disorders, and has been the host of “Pillow Talk” for the last 3 years, every week on KAAM 770 in the Dallas area. He runs two sleep practices in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and has been speaking on many topics related to sleep both nationally and internationally for the last 15 years.

As an Internist, I have developed a deep understanding of wellness and long-term healthcare. My approach focuses on helping patients live better and longer lives through both acute and preventive care. I give every patient personal advice and support in a relaxed and unrushed manner. I utilize the latest advancements in medicine and knowledge of the latest discoveries in medical research and wellness screenings to help identify risk for disease and prevent it or treat it early. It is also important to me to foster and promote optimism and good humor, which are also important elements in the healing process and staying well.

I focus on primary care, internal medicine, cardiovascular health, preventive medicine and women’s health. In addition, I am board certified in sleep medicine and am able to treat sleep-related illnesses, such as obstructive sleep apnea and insomnia while providing guidance on CPAP management. My patients also enjoy conveniences similar to services in a concierge practice – timely appointments, same-day visits and the ability to contact me during and after hours. By promoting physical and mental well-being and coaching healthier lifestyle choices, I empower my patients to live the best life possible.

My private primary care practice currently serves all of Long Island, New York. My office is conveniently located in Commack, which is easily accessible from Eastern Nassau County and Western Suffolk County. I am affiliated with St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown, New York. I speak fluent English and Spanish.

Daniel Klauer

Daniel Klauer, DDS, DABCP, DABDSM

As a lifelong resident of Granger, IN, Dr. Klauer has strong ties to the Michiana community. After attending grade school at Christ the King and going on to Marian High school, Dr. Klauer chose to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Notre Dame. There, he earned a Monogram letter as a member of the varsity golf team and proudly contributed to multiple Big East Championship wins.

Upon graduating from Notre Dame, Dr. Klauer chose to complete his four years of training at The Ohio State University, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). In 2013, Dr. Klauer chose to limit his practice to treating patients with craniofacial pain, TMD and sleep disorders due to the overwhelming need within the community. As he learned to identify the origin of patients’ pain and sleep problems, it became increasingly clear that he could drastically impact their lives now and in the future.

To that end, Dr. Klauer has completed nearly 2 years of post-graduate training and over 1,500 hours of continuing education in Craniofacial Pain, TMD, and Sleep Medicine. He is Board Certified with the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, American Board of Craniofacial Pain and the American Board of Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine. He is Diplomate Eligible with the American Board of Orofacial Pain and he is the only doctor in 100-mile radius that carries these 3 board credentials.

Today, Dr. Klauer enjoys educating patients and giving them the tools to live healthier lives independent of medications and “band-aid” fixes. He regularly attends cutting-edge courses that further advance his clinical skills so as to continuously improve for the benefit of his patients. In his personal time, Dr. Klauer spends as much time as possible with his wife and three young children. He enjoys running and skiing, and finds pleasure in mostly any outdoor activity.

William Hang

William M Hang DDS MSD has been a pioneer working in the airway/sleep arena for over 25 years. He has lectured to the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain six times since 2001. Dr. Hangreceived a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry for his work on optimizing the airway in patients of all ages. He has patients traveling to see him from over 25 states and a number of foreign countries (New Zealand, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, the U.K., Iceland). They come seeking reversal of their previous orthodontic results, to alleviate their TMJ/pain problems, and to seek relief from OSA symptoms.
Dr. Hang is an innovative, forward thinking visionary who has dedicated his career to improving how dentistry & orthodontics are practiced around the world.

Rob Suter has a strong clinical and marketing background in Sleep and Airway. He has 18 years of experience in Sleep in the Medical and Dental industry. Rob has published various clinical papers in Medical and Dental journals, as well as several clinical studies on various topics such as: Home Sleep Testing, Complex Sleep Apnea, Oral Appliances for PTSD patients, and 3D Airway scans. He has lectured internationally at the AADSM, AACP, Spear, Henry Schein events, and ResMed MD/DDS Summits.

Scott Craig

Scott Craig

Scott Craig has served as CEO of Midwest Dental Sleep Center (MDSC) since 2007. Under his leadership, MDSC has become one of the largest and most respected dental sleep medicine clinics in the country. The center is AADSM accredited and has five diplomates of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine with five locations serving the Chicago-land area. MDSC is one of a handful of multi-center clinics in the world focused exclusively on providing Dental Sleep Medicine services to patients suffering from sleep-related breathing disorders.

Scott is a graduate of DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business. He has 19 years of experience as an entrepreneur in the medical equipment, service and supply industries. Scott has a proven record in business development, strategic planning and relationship management to develop and grow existing companies or new start-up companies. Scott is a passionate leader and advocate in the sleep community on a local and national level. He is a recipient of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine’s (AADSM) 2014 Clinical Research Award. He is also a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Illinois Sleep Society.

John Viviano

John Viviano, DDS DABDSM

John Viviano DDS D,ABDSM; obtained his credentials from U of T in 1983. His clinic is limited to providing conservative therapy for Sleep Disordered Breathing and Sleep Related Bruxism. A member of various sleep organizations, he is a Credentialed Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, and has lectured internationally, conducted original research and authored articles on the management of Sleep-Disordered Breathing and the use of Acoustic Reflection to evaluate the upper airway. His clinic is the only Canadian facility accredited by the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Viviano also hosts an online LinkedIn Discussion Group with members from around the globe (SleepDisordersDentistry LinkedIn Group) and conducts Dental Sleep Medicine CE programs for various levels of experience including a 4-Day Mini Residency.

Anna Gordon has a masters of business administration with a focus in communication development, strategic planning, branding, and conceptual execution. She completed her M.B.A. in 2004 and has has served as a creative director, communication lecturer, and strategic planning director for both the business and non-profit sectors. Anna has been employed in the dental sleep medicine industry for 4 years and marketing communications for over 20 years.

Anna has trained and assisted dental offices on practice management, sleep apnea concepts, sleep awareness community programs, marketing and patient communication.

Ronald Prehn

Ronald Prehn, ThM, DDS

Dr. Ronald S. Prehn, a third-generation dentist, focuses his practice on complex medical management of facial pain conditions (headache) and sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Prehn is on the staff of local hospitals, and he focuses his practice on the cusp between medicine and dentistry, providing care for patients with facial pain conditions, including TMJ and headache, and also those with sleep-related breathing disturbances. Dr. Prehn is a member of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, the American Association of the Study of Headache,American Academy of Sleep Medicine, AmericanAcademy of Dental Sleep Medicine and the Appliance Therapy Practitioners Association. He is a Board Certified Member of the American Board of Orofacial Pain (a proposed ADA specialty) and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Prehn earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1981. His postgraduate work was accomplished at the Parker Mahan FacialPain Center at the University of Florida. He went into specialty practice in 1994, and in 1998, he moved with his family of five children and wife Linda to Houston, where he developed the Center for Facial Pain and Dental Sleep Medicine (formerly Orofacial Pain Management of Houston, PC) in The Woodlands, Texas (north of Houston), where the focus of his practice is now the use of appliance therapy and medical management for TMJ disorders, sleep-related breathing disorders and the treatment of headache. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, and he also speaks nationally at conferences to other dentists, physicians and health-care professionals around the state and nation.

Jeffrey Hindin

Jeffrey Hindin, DDS

Dr. Hindin is the leading dental expert in physiologic function and heart rate variability. He practices general dentistry with an emphasis on the treatment of craniofacial pain, TMD and sleep disorders. Dr. Hindin has developed an FDA approved system for evaluating physiology in the medical or dental office. He is the lead dentist in the Proof of Concept Study of an Oral Orthotic to Reduce Tic severity in Chronic Tic Disorder and Tourette Syndrome at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

After graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 1993, Dr. Jeffrey Hindin completed a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Buffalo. Dr. Jeffrey Hindin completed The Brookdale Hospital/NYU Maxi Course in Oral Implantology. He is one of the founders of the Hindin Center for Whole Health Dentistry, where he practices all phases of restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Hindin has a special interest in the treatment of craniofacial pain, TMD and sleep disorders. He has also created a system of monitoring physiologic functions and incorporates biofeedback modalities into patient care. Dr. Hindin is currently conducting important clinical research into the relationship between orofacial pain, splint therapy, physiologic function and heart rate variability. He has lectured internationally on this subject and is also an instructor and expert in software development for the Biofeedback Foundation of Europe. Additionally, he has a patent pending on a system and method for facilitating adjustment of an oral appliance. Dr. Hindin is active in many professional societies including Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and memberships in the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Academy of Pain Management, American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, International Association of Orthodontics, Association of Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, and Academy of Laser Dentistry.

Randy Curran is the Founder of Pristine Medical Billing. He has over 10 years of billing experience in the sleep medicine space. Randy’s drive and vigor to help save lives has allowed him to improve sleep medicine billing protocols and experiences in hundreds of practices across the United States.

Randy loves helping practices and the patients they serve. He has a patient-focused mentality and strives to best meet the needs of the patient first. Knowing that nearly 90% of sleep apnea patients go undiagnosed,Randy is committed to fight and help decrease the number of people who are suffering.

Beyond his accomplishments and credibility in the sleep medicine world, Randy is a loving husband and father to a wonderful family. His family also shares in his passion for healthcare. His wife Pam is an ER respiratory therapist and one of his sons is following in his footsteps. Together, they are committed to improving and saving lives. That motivation they carry into their day-to-day lives, provides the “why” in their purpose to serve. Furthermore, Randy loves camping with his family, spear fishing, coaching baseball and basketball…and even gets on the field to pitch an 80 mile an hour fast ball against kids ½ his age!

Scott’s extensive hands-on experience both with dental practice clients and on the laboratory floor makes him an ideal source to provide insights and information about the purpose, performance and potential of various designs of dental sleep oral appliances.

James Metz

James Metz, DDS, FACD, ABDSM

Dr. James Metz is a 1973 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, while serving in the US Army he attained the rank of Major.  Today, he maintains a restorative dental practice with an emphasis on dental sleep medicine and reconstructive dentistry, both of which are being utilized, along with the surgical orthodontics (Wilckodontics – Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics Procedure).  The goal of which is to address the major health issues of the today, Hypertension and Type II Diabetes, to help restore and maintain the health of the individual.

Dr Metz is the affiliate director of The Ohio State University Medical Center Sleep Medicine Fellowship Program. He is member of the American Dental Association’s Scientific Investigation Committee Workgroup, which is defining the role of the Oral Appliance for the control of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, as well as, the Scientific Investigation Committee of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry for Sleep Dentistry for Sleep Dentistry.  He has served on the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine board of directors, course development committee, public relations committee, chair for both the Introductory and Advanced Course of Dental Sleep Medicine, and vice-chair of the AADSM Annual Meeting in 2014.  He is a board member of the Ohio Sleep Society.  Metz is the founder and current chair for the Dental Interest Group of the American Thoracic Society.  As a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and International Academy of Gnathology he has pursued excellence in the field of Restorative Dentistry.  Dr. Metz is also a member of the American College of Dentists, American Dental Association, and served as president of the Muskingum Valley Dental Association.

Each year Dr Metz gives many graduate level, Continuing Education Courses and has been the Keynote speaker for many national meetings.  He concentrates his efforts mainly in the United States and People’s Republic of China.

Dr Metz’s current research with Oral Appliance Therapy for Obstructive Sleep Apnea, and Headache have lead to the completion of a 148 consecutive patient study, soon to be published through the Northwestern University School of Medicine.  The outcomes, using his techniques, have compared favorably to CPAP therapy for mild, moderate, and even severe OSA patients.  It has also produced and new method for the control of chronic headache.

Elias is the founder of IDEAcomm and OSA University. He started the organization based on a need to educate dental team members in sleep fundaments and dental sleep medicine practice protocols. Elias has made it his life’s mission to spread awareness of sleep apnea and alternative treatment options so that the public can best be treated and served. In an effort to seamlessly offer online education to team members he created the OSA University online platform of education. It was specifically designed for the dental staff. Eight courses were initially developed with specific areas of concern and education needed for dental team members to succeed in offering oral appliance therapy to patients.

Elias is deeply involved in the dental sleep industry and spends weekends traveling the country, lecturing at seminars, symposiums, summits, and conferences about sleep breathing disorders. When he is not promoting sleep, you can find Elias fishing, cooking, refining his winemaking skills and spending time with family and friends.
